While I love and continue to serve through my own initiative, volunteering with other organizations offers a unique opportunity to broaden perspective.
Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Hospital
This organization is the one that inspired my CSI. In adolescence I spend three summers here caring for sick or injured turtles. Seeing first hand how our pollution harms these creatures motivated me into action.
Plastic Ocean Project
I learned about this organization during my time spent at sea turtle camp; where we were able to tour their headquarters and receive a conservation lesson. A few years later I was able to participate in one of their volunteer adopt a highway cleanups.
NC Estuary
At the NC Estuary, I volunteer by teaching visitors about the water cycle and pollution through an interactive art piece. It's a creative way to inspire awareness and action to protect our Waterways.
Clean Waters for North Carolina
As a title holder I have been able to connect with and become a volunteer for CWFNC; where they have tasked me to write blogs and occasionally go to events.
I attended the Resource Conservation Workshop at NC State University to deepen my knowledge of environmental science and conservation. This experience gave me hands-on training in protecting our natural resources
I served as a staff member at SCUBA STEM Camp, helping young aspiring scuba divers and future ocean conservationists gain the skills and knowledge they need to explore and protect our underwater world. It was an incredible opportunity to mentor youth and share my passion.
