What to Bring & How It All Works
Here’s everything you need to know about what to pack, how your kit gets moved around, and how we’ll keep things rolling smoothly on the road.
Bags & Packing
You’ll need two bags:
Main bag: A carry-on suitcase/bag (cabin size) with your evening clothes, chargers, spare kit etc. This goes in the luggage van each morning and will be waiting for you at the hotel when you finish riding. You won’t see this bag during the day.
Day bag: A small musette or day pack with spare layers, cables, and anything you might want at the lunch stop. Keep this light — space is tight and it may arrive at the hotel after you.
We also suggest you pack a set of cycling kit, helmet and shoes in your carry-on luggage in case your bag is delayed - this has happened before!
Important:
For those joining One More City from outside the UK; bike bags or boxes will only be taken from Pisa to Nice if you’ve arranged this in advance with Adventure Café.
Please contact to confirm if there is space available: info@adventurecafe.uk
On the Road
We might get sun, rain, wind, snow?! — sometimes all in one day. Test your kit beforehand and always carry a rain layer with you.
Two support vehicles will be out on the road carrying a first aid kit and tools.
Be prepared to fix your own punctures and minor issues — the mechanic can step in for bigger problems.
The sweep van can give a lift to riders who can’t finish a day, but space is limited, so consider this a backup for medical or mechanical emergencies, not your Plan A.
Bike security: We’ll bring long cable locks for overnight storage at hotels — no need to lug a heavy lock with you.
Packing Essentials
Documents & tech:
Passport
Phone
GHIC/EHIC card
Cash and card
Bike computer (routes pre-loaded)
On the bike:
A recently Serviced bike (in good nick — brakes, gears, tyres all working)
Helmet (no helmet = no ride)
Lights (mandatory — we’ll be going through tunnels)
At least 4 sets of kit (bibs, jerseys, base layers, wind gilet, rain jacket, arm/leg warmers, shoe covers)
Pump, inner tubes, tyre boots, quick link, levers, CO2 canister
Food & water for each stage (there’ll be top-ups en route)
Optional: small café lock
Evening kit:
Casual clothes (evenings are relaxed — no dress code)
Chargers & cables
Other bits:
Emergency contacts (these go in the vans too)
Any health essentials (inhalers, EpiPens, meds — let us know about these in advance)
If your bike has quirky bits needing special tools, give us a heads-up so we can bring them along
Before You Go
Get your bike serviced and make sure you know how everything works.
Check your tyres, brakes, gears, and granny gear (there’s climbing… lots of it).
Load the routes onto your Garmin/Wahoo and download country maps too.
Have a rough idea of the route and help your group navigate — teamwork makes the climbs feel shorter.
Check the forecast each evening and prep your kit for the next day.
