The notes you write, with their video timestamps, the video title and the video link, are saved in your browser’s local extension storage on your computer.
Your settings (for example, whether exports include the one-line MomentNotes credit).
If you buy a license: your license key, its status and when it was last checked, plus a count of free downloads used.
On youtube.com watch pages only, and only while you use it, MomentNotes reads the video’s current playback time, the page title and the page address. It does not read, download or process the video, audio, captions, comments or your YouTube account.
When you activate a purchased license, and then about every 14 days to confirm it is still valid, the extension sends your license key and the product ID to Gumroad’s license-verification service (https://api.gumroad.com/v2/licenses/verify). That request is the only network call the extension makes. Like any web request, Gumroad also receives your IP address. Gumroad’s privacy policy applies to that request: https://gumroad.com/privacy. If you never buy a license, the extension makes no network requests at all.
No analytics, tracking or telemetry.
No accounts, sign-ins, cloud sync or sharing.
We do not collect, sell, rent or share your data. Your notes are never sent to us or anyone else.
No ads.
storage: Saves your notes, settings and license status on your computer.
downloads: Saves your notes as a .md file to your Downloads folder when you click Download.
clipboardWrite: Copies your notes as Markdown when you click Copy.
Access to www.youtube.com (content script): Shows the notes panel on YouTube watch pages and reads the playback time, title and address.
Access to api.gumroad.com: Used only for the license check described above.
Exported Markdown files include a one-line MomentNotes credit with a link to the store listing, unless you switch it off. The link is plain text in your file; nothing is sent when you export.
Purchases are processed by Gumroad, Inc. MomentNotes never sees or stores your payment details.
Uninstalling MomentNotes deletes everything it stored in your browser. Files you saved to your Downloads folder stay where you put them.
If this policy changes, the new version is posted on this page with a new effective date.
