“Why Air Quality in Omaha is Suffering & What Citizens Can Do

For almost 7 decades, the air quality in Omaha has reached toxic levels due to the coal-fired power plant.
While they can’t reverse the actions of the past, they still have the power to shape the present. And with today’s advancements in air quality technology, they're more equipped to improve Omaha’s air quality.
Pray on how you can reduce your own energy consumption
Actions: e.g. energy reducing lights, thermostat control system or turn the A/C up and heat down, home insulation, energy efficient vehicles and or drive less.
Reduce your overall consumption
Educate yourself: Participate in the Archdiocesan Laudato Si’ Study groups.
Speak up: contact local, state, and federal representatives related to coal use.
Sign letter to OPPD regarding the coal fired-power
Attend the upcoming OPPD Board Meeting on Thursday, September 18th from 5:00 - 6:00 PM at the Omaha-Douglas Civic Center. The Board will likely be making their last major vote regarding coal transition.
