Social media and audience engagement go hand-in-hand, especially when your target audience is high schoolers. While our Social Media manager is in charge of posting multiple times a day, I will always check captions for grammar and spelling after posting in case of any last-minute edits. Our paper posts each article that's published online, student awards/ accomplishments, deadlines for contests, and truly acts as the information hub for my school's community. I often hear students telling others to "check the Mane Street Mirror" if they have a question about an upcoming dance, sporting event, or any local news not included in a written article. To supplement our active Instagram, Tik Tok, and FaceBook accounts, we also maintain an online presence to publish the articles that weren't selected for our printed paper. In 2022, the online staff redesigned our website to be more user-friendly, and I've had and heard nothing but rave reviews on the update. Our online staff typically handles analytics, and one of my goals for the upcoming months is to monitor those more frequently to see what types of articles do well and take note of any trends within our site.
