Typically, my team and I dedicate one issue per year to photojournalism. We encourage students to utilize our camera and teach them about the rule of thirds, etc. in an effort to foster impactful visual storytelling. In class, the entire month of March is dedicated to invstigating photojournalism from a historical perspective before students go out to practice this on their own. Our Article Style Sheet dedicates six pages to walking students through the process of taking a good photo. I've also designed many graphics (like the ones on the front page) to enhance visual storytelling when the team feels a visual is more effective than the photo a writer has submitted.
