Hello fellow teachers!
Welcome to the teacher section of my site!
In the "Study" tab, you can learn more about how to get started as a global educator. I give an explanation as to why this work is so important to me as a teacher, and offer a curated list of free online courses offered by excellent organizations devoted to global education. I also make some reading suggestions, recommend digital learning tools, and cite some local resources in Austin that will support you in this work.
In the "Teach" section, you'll find examples of how I've applied tenets of global education in my classroom, including materials related to implementing a media literacy curriculum, resources for conducting a "Diverse Books" audit of your classroom materials, and World Read Aloud Day planning resources. You'll find some sample rubrics for evaluating your students' progression along the continuum of global competency.
Finally, in the "Travel" section, you'll learn more about professional development opportunities that fund teacher travel and support academic inquiry. I put my International Field Experience blog and Capstone Reflection there for reference if you're curious about what it was like to travel with the Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms program.
Please let me know if you have ideas that you want to share or need help applying for some of these opportunities. It's worth the effort! I've found that approaching my curriculum through a global lens has increased student engagement across my classes and keeps me motivated to continue growing as a teacher.
