As a teacher with my own classroom library, I want to make sure that my students have both "mirror" and "window" texts. They need to see protagonists in the books that they read who mirror their own life experiences, and equally, they need to be exposed to the perspectives of protagonists whose lives do not look like their own. Perspective taking is one of the core tenets of global education.
Over the last few years, I have been working to enrich my classroom library with an infusion of a diverse range of texts. Below are some resources for conducting a similar inventory of your own classroom library.
