George Nigh started his political career as a member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives. He later served a total of 16 years as Lt. Governor. Nigh's first stint as Governor was for only 9 days in 1963 but later became the first Governor in the history of Oklahoma to succeed himself in office. Nigh is one of only two men who have served non-consecutive terms having been the 17th and 22nd Governor of Oklahoma.
