Jarred Turner is a lifelong Oklahoman. He grew up in Rush Springs, Oklahoma where he graduated high school in 2001. Turner received his Bachelors degree in 2005 from the University of Science of Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha. In 2009 Turner received a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. Turner spent five years working as a radio disc jockey and majored in Communications while in college, serving as business manager for the school newspaper. He is currently a history teacher at Central Junior High in Moore, OK.
As a history enthusiast Turner has been researching and writing a book about the history of Oklahoma's Governors. His research has included visiting the graves of every former Oklahoma Governor who has passed. Turner has also conducted several interviews with all former living Governors as well as their families and acquaintances.
In 2017 Turner became an Honorary Tennessean when he was awarded the honor by Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam for his contributions to the Volunteer State. In February 2018 Turner was honored with USAO's "100 Alumni You Should Know" in recognition of his work on Tomorrow's Oklahoma Leaders Lecture Series. Turner was also the recipient of the 2021 USAO Young Alumni of the Year Award. Turner's first book is being published through the Oklahoma Hall of Fame and fundraising is currently underway. His latest venture "Oklahoma History on an Index Card" is now available on YouTube and is in the works of becoming his next book.
Turner lives in Moore, Oklahoma with his wife Jaci who is a teacher at Southmoore High School and their two children Jackson and Jaylyn.
