Fiction : When people try and see different perspectives, it can open up a whole new world. That is why two best friends Willow and Hazel talk about the importance of art, and how it opens up a new life for them.

“C’mon, Willow. You can’t just be against art without seeing it on deeper levels, it has such a big purpose in the world and you aren’t even trying to make an effort, it’s actually disappointing.”

She turned away quickly trying to avoid talking to me but then she just lashed out about it, it was so sudden that it startled me.

“ Can you just shut up about it? Art is just scribbles and lines, and people call it “Abstract” when it’s not. Our society doesn’t do anything with art, and they praise the littlest bit of art made, our society is depressing”

It seemed as if she was so angry at the fact of art that she could rip my face apart, but she wasn’t trying to understand at all, so of course in my mind I’m going to be mad.

Omg, this is what I’m talking about. Your’e looking at the wrong art. That’s modern art, not old art, and still, each piece of art has a meaning for someone, you need to look on deeper levels. Here, look at this painting made by Pablo Picasso called, “Guernica” . It has such a deep meaning, just look at it and tell me what you see?

Willow: All I see is faint lines, and scribbles, all of these lines just confuse me.

Hazel: So are you just confused and then just planning on hating it because you're confused or do you actually not like it?

Willow has always been a very negative person, wherever she went, she was always in a bad mood and tried ignoring me in public. I don’t know if it was because of the fact she secretly hated me , or if she just didn’t like being seen or going out in public, because whenever we were home, she was always in a good mood and calm. I don’t know what happens to her but she needs to stop taking it out on me. I don’t do anything wrong to her. I just try to steer her in the right direction but I guess not.

Willow: Well I guess, now that I think about it I am just confused on the deeper meanings of things like y’know? it just doesn’t click on me like it does for others.

Hazel:That is why we have captions, and helpful people and descriptions on pieces of art like those because a lot of people don;’t know the meaning of famous pieces of art, and these captions or descriptions explain the full meaning of it.

Well why didn’t she tell me that in the first place? We just had this big argument for no reason.

“Well I know stuff like that but how does someone take a picture like Picasso and say that it's about going against war? Like I don’t see anything that relates to any of that. It's just black and white scribbles and like for another example, Mona Lisa. I don’t understand any of it, she's just sitting there doing nothing and all of a sudden gets over lashed fame for sitting there. If it was that easy I would have been taking photos like that since birth, I would be a billionaire.”

I chuckled to myself, and looked away for a second to gather my thoughts. I wish I was a billionaire.

Sadly, that's not how it works. You see, these people and paintings that get so much fame are because of the artist, and how they thought of making the art and the meaning behind it, i know she is just sitting up but you have to understand, Picasso is such a wonderful artist and all of his paintings have some sort of meaning behind them, and it’s important to try and learn about them because you never know, you could relate to a lot of art and just not know it yet.

“It’s just so annoying like I’m so mad I don't understand it because i want to but i just guess it doesn't make sense”

Hazel: I know it’s annoying but you have to try and make assumptions on what the art piece is about and if your inference is wrong that’s okay. You know how many people probably assumed wrong about an art piece? Like a million! But that doesn't stop them does it?

I was hoping she would give me a really optimistic answer, but i don’t know what i was expecting, she just smiled just enough so she didn’t look mad.

“You’re right, I shouldn’t let my rejections and mistakes stop me from living and assuming. It’s good to assume some things right?”

“Yes! That’s exactly what you want in life, don’t really make assumptions on people or living conditions, or buildings if you can avoid it, but if it's about objects or pieces of art, you can definitely assume certain things.”

For some reason, I thought she already knew this, she was top of our class in 2019 and was always sharp as a bullet answering questions. She didn’t make sense to me sometimes but i try and understand parts of her that others might not understand, and i think ever since ive tried to understand her and be more gentle with her, it helps a lot because she has A.D.H.D and anxiety so when people try and force her to do stuff she doesn’t know how to do or they are not being patient with her, it really screws her up so that's why i always stay patient and not force her to understand things, but rather lead her in the right direction.

“Oh okay, I mean I guess you're right this one time.”

“Oh I know, I'm always right, you just never expect it because you think I am a dumb person like you are.

I was trying to play around and joke with Willow, and thankfully she knew I was joking. Maybe it's because of the mood I set off, but all I know is that it didn’t set her off and that's all that matters.

“Oh shut up you're so annoying I hate you!”

She threw a pillow at me, and continued to fight me with it until i begged her to stop

“Please!Please! At least let me get the other pillow!”

We were in a deep laugh session and after we settled down we were sitting by the big couch watching the harry potter marathon, and i decided to give her a mini lesson

“Do you know that Harry Potter’s parents are the most powerful in all of Hogwarts and Harry has a scar on his forehead?”

“No! That’s so crazy to think about, that he gets to go to this big magical school and learn all about magic, imagine it was our lives”

I mean, I thought about it and yea, it would be crazy, but there would probably never be a world with real magic, sadly but if there was I would definitely be a part of wanting to learn about magic.

“You’re right I would so do it too, but I don't think it will happen”

I mean, I don’t try and be negative but seriously what's the reality of something like that coming true”

I was finally happy that Willow and I were able to agree on art and she finally is asking for help instead of just guessing and being miserable and hating art. I mean who would hate art, it has so many different features, and they also have so many different ways to be seen and I think art plays a role in everyday life with buildings and even sidewalks and pavements. You have to look deeper into things because there's always a hidden meaning behind something and when you find that hidden meaning, it opens up a whole new world for people to want to explore and I think that's the most important component.

This emphasizes that art is a very important rule and subject in our society. In this article they are justifying that art is an expression of feelings rather than just drawing to draw, and art has a much more deeper meaning than just scribbles or objects. Art is used to represent how these people think without having to explain in words, for example, if some people don’t like expressing that out loud they use art to express it, This emphasizes it isn’t just a random drawing it has a deeper meaning for others and the person who wrote it. However some may argue that art looks like a bunch of scribbles and lines, but art isn’t just drawing, it is used in other ways like dressing up, that or for example buildings and cars, and it is used in our everyday lives no matter what, so although some say it’s not important , it still is and if people open their eyes and have a more open view on our earth, they will be able to realize how important art is.

Have you ever wondered why art is most important? In the article, “Why the arts matter” by the NEA staff in the National Endowment of the Arts, they explain that art is a feeling of expression, and even if people don’t create their own art, other peoples art also plays a big role in making others feel emotions and have opinions. When people try and look through paintings to see the bigger picture, they usually make assumptions and guess what it means before actually knowing what that piece of art means. They state, “Art matters because it illustrates the human experience—the wonder of it, the bewilderment of it, the whimsy of it, and so much more. We would not be connected so deeply without the existence of art. – Kathleen Dinsmore These words show that people see art in all different forms showing everyone has their own opinions and art has an impact on everyone whether it’s a stick person or there is a big painting of angels on a ceiling, it has a very big impact on how people see the world and how they react to those showing that art is very important.

Daniel Hill is an artist and a critic towards the expression of art. Daniel has the belief that art does not matter in today's society and it is a luxury rather than an everyday necessity.stating, Currently, art is a luxury, not a necessity, and as such is the first to be cut in schools or for funding. This lack of art education is a very difficult problem to solve, because it is not a standard we are merely trying to re-establish, but one we have perhaps never had. Those of us who have devoted our lives to art know its unquestionable value, but in a society changing extremely quickly with exponential growth in technology, art must consider ways to recontextualize itself to be more accessible and meaningful to a wider audience. Demonstrating that art has to have a deeper meaning than just drawings and with the new technological advancements, it can lead to people forgetting about art and due to lack of money in a lot of schools, schools struggle to teach the students of why art matters, which could potentially leave art abandoned in new generations to come.

She had a speech saying that art is very important in everyday life and no one sees the true significance in art until they finally take a look in deeper levels, stating, “Art has always held a significant place in society, influencing and reflecting the culture and community it emerges from. From ancient cave paintings to contemporary digital art, the impact of art is profound and far-reaching. It serves as a mirror to societal values, challenges norms and inspires change. Catherine Lacey is a book author and a writer, along with being a public speaker. She is known by others for her notorious books where it has art and foreshadowing stories making readers want to know more the more they read. She also has been famous for being a very big speaker about the purpose of art and how it has different meanings, and it can have many different perspectives for the people viewing different pieces of art. She also talks about people's different emotions they go through during life and different scenes, and how people lose or find their identity throughout the life also. When people try to find their identities, they look into the things they like and make them happy, they find out what they want and they slowly find their paths to be their best version of themselves. When people go through a rough patch in life they try to see the importance or idea of what is messing them up and use the things around them like friends, writing, or creating things to express who they are.
