Sofia received her BSc and M.Sc. degrees in Spring 2020 and Summer 2024. She was a member of the 2023 Class of Optica Women Schoalrs. Her paper entitled GPU-Parallelized Semi Heuristic Phase Compensation for Digital holographic Microscopy was selected for the 2024 Optica Imaging Congress Optica Student Paper Award. Her research interests are on biomedical applications of optics, including digital holographic microscopy applications.
Piper received her BSc in Spring 2025. She joined the OIRL lab in Spring 2025 during her senior year. Her research interest is imaging processing related to Spectral-Domain OCT.
Craig received his BSc degree in Spring 2026. His research interests are polarization-sensitive imaging and linear systems.
Ryan received his double-major BSc degree in Spring 2026. He recently joined the OIRL lab and his Master's Project is related to the design of an OCT system for soil characterization.
Justin recently joined the OIRL. He will graduate with a double EE-CpE BSc. degree in Spring 2027. His research project is related to selective plane illumination microscopy (SPIM).
Rafael joined the OIRL lab in Spring 2026. He willreceive his BSc degree in Spring 2027. His research interest is lensless imaging.
Mia recently joined the OIRL lab during her Freshman year in Spring 2026. She is discovering the exciting world on microscopy and its applications!
Justin joined the OIRL lab during Summer 2025 and continued his undergraduate research assistanship during Spring 2026. He will receive his BSc degree in Spring 2027. His research interests are lensless imaging and the application of deep learning to reduce the computational burden.

Brian received his BSc degree in Spring 2020. In Fall 2018, he worked in a junior project under the supervision of Dr. Ana Doblas (The University of Memphis). Brian defended his Master dissertation in Fall 2021. From Spring 2019 to Fall 2023, he was a member of the Optical Imaging Research Laboratory. His main research interests are Optics and Opto-Electronics.
Kamana was a Ph.D. canditate in Engineering within the concentration of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Memphis. She received her MSc degree from U of M in Spring 2022. Her main research interests lie in smart wearable devices.
Bin was an M.Sc. graduate student of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Memphis. He received his BSc and Msc. degrees in Spring 2020 and Fall 2021, respectively. His main research interests is the synergetic of three-dimensional motion imaging systems with machine learning. Charity received her BSc degree in Engineering Technology and Technology Management from Mississippi Valley State University in 2012 and her MSc degree in Architecture from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in 2015. In Spring 2019, she joined the Optical Imaging Research Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Doblas (The University of Memphis), where she finished her Master dissertation (Spring 2022) in implementing a dual-mode common-path DHM system using a Fresnel biprism.
Raul received his B.Scs. and and MSc. degrees in Physics Engineering from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, in 2014 and 2017, respectively. He defended his Ph.D. Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Memphis on Nov. 3, 2023. His research interests include Digital Holography and Digital Holographic Microscopy, focusing on the reduction of speckle noise and improvement of the capability of imaging resolution. Shashwat defended his M. Sc. Dissertation on Computer Engineering at the University of Memphis by Jan. 12, 2023. He received his BSc in Computer Engineering from U of M in Spring 2020. His main research interests lie in computational imaging and deep learning applications.
