Late Work Policy
I understand that unforeseen circumstances beyond our control can happen. For this reason, I have implemented a late work policy.
You are allowed to submit up to 3 assignments late for full credit, as long as they are submitted within 1 week of the due date.*
This policy does not apply to the following assignments (they must be turned in on time): Culture Identity Analysis Paper, Intercultural Event Reflection, and Intercultural Film Analysis.**
Any assignments due on finals week may not be submitted late.
*If you have used up all the 3 late passes, then you will lose points or earn no credit for any subsequent late assignments. However, if you have an extraordinary circumstance (such as a family or medical emergency), then please contact me before the deadline or as soon as you can. Together, we might be able to work something out. Note that if you contact me after the deadline, you will be required to provide documentation as to the nature of the emergency.
**Failure to meet the deadline for these major assignments will result in either point reductions or no credit for the assignment, depending on circumstances. Extensions for these assignments are not allowed unless you contact me in advance (or as soon as possible) by either email or office hours and explain your reason for not being able to meet the deadline. You will be required to include the assignment draft/outline, as well as documentation (such as a doctor's note or court affidavit) to validate your reason and prove that you would have been otherwise able to submit the assignment on time.
Questions/Concerns about Grades
No one is perfect, and that includes professors. Should you have a question or concern about your grade, please follow the steps below:
Re-read the assignment instructions and the rubric (if applicable).
If you still have questions about your grade, please schedule an appointment during office hours and come with specific questions about the assignment.
(If requesting for your grade to be re-evaluated, be prepared to explain why you should receive the additional points. The best explanations typically involve referencing the assignment criteria and how you believe you have met them).
Any discussion comparing your grades with other students' performances will not be entertained as a topic of discussion. This is non-negotiable.
Note that simply discussing your concerns with me does not guarantee a grade change.
