The OEMS program is a 4-week series, led by a Doctorate of Occupational Therapy student in conjunction with Touro University of Nevada, focused on offering holistic, first-responder specific health and wellness education and resources. The purpose of the OEMS program is to improve access to and delivery of education and resources related to the health and wellness of EMS employees. The content was created using evidence-based, research backed practices along with interviews from EMS staff at Community Ambulance. The OEMS program came to fruition, providing specialized programming for these first responders related to mental health, sleep hygiene, ergonomics, and retirement readiness.
Occupations are the activities that people do every day to give their life purpose and meaning.
Management of all occupations through the development of restorative, adaptive, and compensatory health and wellness skills.
Engagement refers to the active participation and performance of everyday tasks - while at work and throughout daily life.
OEMS aims to offer support through resources and a fostered connection amongst EMS personnel.
