Jacobean Crewel Embroidery: A project from Mary Corbet's Needle 'n Thread website

I found this design for Linda Saunder's sessions on Jacobean Crewel work. The design is easily downloaded and can then be traced onto twill. Each step is then explained with lots of close-up photos. I liked the way Mary explained her thinking about what colours and stitches to use and wasn't afraid to own up to unpicking it, if didn't turn out to be as she had envisaged.

At the time of doing the embroidery, I had Linda to go to for help with how to do the stitches. Although it isn't the same as having Linda at your elbow, Mary does provide little tutorial clips you can click on to see how each stitch is created.
