In this video he explains the different types of waves which are wind driven waves, tidal waves, and tsunamis. He explains that the water itself it not moving rather than the wind and the wave moving through the water. Wind causes waves through friction, pressure, and gravity. He also explained that when waves meet sometimes they do not interfere with one another but yet add together called superposition. The height of the wave would be the middle where the waves that are going in different directions meet. The trought of the wave is the low point of the wave when it is moving in the water.
There are two different types of tides including low and high tides. One of the main reasons that causes these low and high tides would be the moon due to gravity in the earth and the moon. Tidal force occurs when the gravity of the moon pulls on earths water causing the water to bulge towards the moon. When the water is pulled towards the moon's direction the water wants to bulge causing a high tide. There are 2 high tides a day due to the gravitational pull from the moon and the other from gravity on the other side.
