Abstract:
Overall the semester was good. Apart from missing a couple times and procrasinating a little bit more than I wanted, the semester was great! I met some of my goals this semester like asking my peers for help when I needed some extra clarification on a topic, study outside of class, and I started showing up for class a lot more. In my opinion I believe the class went very smoothly. Based on my experience in this class, I feel like i've earned knowledge. Knowledge on the ocean's properties and how we damage it little by little. I earned so much information regarding tides, plate tectonics and how the water circulation works.
Introduction/ background:
Global warming ruins the ocean because it causes exessive heat, changing the oceans water levels causing fish and natual sea plants to die. My knowledge on plate tectonics is that the floor of the ocean and exessive heat can cause the plates to move. The major circulation patterns revolve around the amount of heat caused to the ocean. The principles of waves and tides cause the ocean to rise.
Goals/objectives:
My goals this semester are too:
Study outside of class on the topcis we are learning in class
Not procrasinate
Get my classwork done on time
Ask for help when I need it and dont understand a subject
Get a good grade in class
Show up to class more and on time
I met most of my goals this semester which were to study outside of the classroom, ask for help from peers, and show up to class more often. I stopped procrasinating a lot too but not to the fullest.
Methods:
Some methods that I ended up using in this class was studying on the topics outise of class. I even searched up videos on youtube that discussed the same things in class, yet with more pictures since I am a visual learner. Typically a week I would try and spend about 3-4 hours on this class. I would have wanted to do more but with balancing a full time job and full time student it was a bit harder.
Conclusion/discussion:
I completed most of the assignments execpt I want to say about 5 assignments. 3 of those assignments were on Lab day which I missed out on due to my personal life unfortunately. In the beginning of the semester I showed up everyday up until something in my personal life affected my attendence in the middle of the semester, which I stopped going as often as I wanted too. Towards the middle/end I showed up everyday and it felt really good to be in class and taking notes and understanding everything. I would ask my peers for help if I needed clarification and they always helped me out. This class taught me lots of useful skills I can use in the future. Some of those were talking with others, time management, engaging in talks, and listening. I feel like I used all of these important skills in this course this semester. Thinking back on all the topics we learned in class, I beleieve I am at 101 level of understandinding everything. I really loved how at the end everything connected with eachother and how if one simple thing stops working like the circulation of hot and cold winds, everything will have a negative outcomes. This class has made a difference to my life and myself because I have noticed how the human species has a huge effect on the damages of the ocean and I started to cut out plastic water bottles from my life as much as I can because I want to try and use less plastic. Now that I am more aware of everything I would want to become more engaged on making a change to help not destroy the ocean or the planet itself. What I am most proud of accomplishing in this course would be my Eportfolio! I had never made one before nor I had any idea what it was. I am really happy on how my came out at the end. Overall I would give myself a B in this course because I really did turn myself around and started to finish things and I learned so much. I feel like we can agree on this grade because I did try a lot and I have learned the basics on this course. I know what each SLO is and I, myself am happy that I got to learn it.
Thank you so much for this great semester and how you taught the class!
