Description: This is a paper I wrote for a Health Education class, and the topic was being a Health Professional. In it I discuss my own gratitude for health in my life, as well as the passion I have for helping others by making health more accessible.
Connection: This paper connects to performance indicator 9p which covers using leaderships skills to develop school improvement and advance the profession. In the paper I discuss ideas and initiatives I hope to implement as a PE teacher that promote health and wellness for my students and their communities.
Explanation: From this paper I was reminded of the true calling and responsibility teaching PE truly is. Teaching PE well requires a commitment to leadership and advocacy by developing eyes that see need and a heart that cares about the wellness of others. Helping others be healthy requires education and accessible resources both of which I plan to make happen as a PE teacher.
Description: This paper was written for a Sports Management class and discusses my own leadership qualities as well as how I work with others for the greater good.
Connection: This paper connects to performance indicator 9n in that it discusses colaboration with others in order to best support and lead students. Part of being a leader is being willing to do the unglamorous tasks and therefore requires a heart of servant-leadership which the discusses more in depth.
Explanation: From this paper I learned that being a leader is harder than being a follower. Leading a group of people for good requires care and attention. In a school setting, being a leader requires honestly and integrity. It also should include such a passion for the cause that you are working towards that others are inspired and desire to become involved.
