Weekly Mediation Sessions

Meditation Sessions:

Our meditation sessions will consist of two parts: Around 50 minutes of guided meditation and around 10 minutes of discussion on Buddhist thoughts or reading Buddhist Chan poems, totaling one hour. The sessions will be led by well-trained Bhikkhu and Bhikkhuni in Buddhist traditions, who are also DPhil students in Oriental Studies at Oxford.

Our free meditation sessions aim to provide a peaceful and relaxing environment to help students alleviate stress and improve mental and physical health. We believe that meditation can be particularly beneficial during Trinity term, when students are under pressure from exams and coursework. Therefore, we warmly invite students from all backgrounds to experience the benefits of meditation.

Meditation leaders: Ven. Huynh Quoc Tuan, Wolfson College (Bhikkhu)  and/Or Ven. Wanyu Zhang, Regent’s Park College (Bhikkhuni)

Time: Every Tuesday starting at 7:00-8:00 pm.

Location: Massey room, Balliol college.

In Person.

The whole sessions will be conducted in English.  All are welcome.

Film Screening

We will be holding a fortnightly film screening of documentaries and movies that bear relevance to Buddhism and Buddhist culture, community, history and Art.

Museum trips and gatherings

We invite members on trips to the Ashmolean Museum, Pitt Rivers Museum and British Museum for exquisite Buddhist art works and cultural artifices. we propose to organize a weekly meetup in the form of a pub or café trip, which will be organised in the private Facebook group. We believe this will provide a casual environment for members to socialize and get to know each other.
