I highly encourage all students who are willing and able to take lessons online:
In order to help keep our in-studio occupancy levels to a minimum
As a way to continue lessons without putting others at risk when a student becomes sick or has knowingly been exposed to the virus and needs to isolate
As an alternative and safer option for those who are vulnerable or are in regular contact with others who are
For the added convenience of being able to do lessons in the comfort of your home, perhaps when you just don't feel like going out or when the family has scheduling constraints that make it hard to "make it to your lesson", etc.
For the added convenience online lessons provide for scheduling makeup lessons (ie doing a makeup lesson online for a missed in-person lesson)
A couple of other important factors for all to consider is the type of learning environment that's consistently available at home and the technology/technical side of online lessons. Ideally you will have a dedicated space that is consistently quiet during your regular lesson time so the best communication possible can take place between teacher and student. Also, having a reliable internet connection, a computer or tablet with a decent screen size and perhaps even a USB microphone or headphone for better sound quality will all help to make online lessons go smoothly and be more viable long term.
For more tech and just some general information on what's involved with getting setup for online lessons and other considerations, you can always contact me at oakemusicstudio@gmail.com.
On average most students will go on to study their instrument for several years in order to achieve their goals in music, however there are no contracts or long-term commitments required for any music program. Private lessons are taken on a weekly basis during the regular school year from September to June. Lessons renew automatically each month until I am notified that a student will stop. Students may stop lessons anytime before April 30 by notifying in writing or by email 4 lessons prior to the last lesson to be taken.
Oake Music Studio offers several payment options. These are:
E-transfer from bank account
Post-dated cheques
Pre-authorized Credit Card (Visa or Mastercard)
Tuition fees do not include music books or materials.
All tuition fees are HST exempt.
Any lesson that has to be cancelled by the studio due to unforeseen circumstances, such as inclement weather, will not be made up. Instead, a credit for this missed lesson will be applied to your next month. You will find notice of snow day cancellations both on this website and on the Facebook page. Please check regularly for up-to-date information.
