As the Director, Andrew holds ultimate responsibility for all aspects of the NZOMO.
Andrew graduated from Saint Kentigern College, Auckland, New Zealand, where he was IB Dux. He completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme with the full 45 points and was one of 11 Premier Scholars in the New Zealand Scholarship Examinations. He has placed first in every major secondary school level mathematics competition in New Zealand, including ICAS, the Auckland Mathematical Olympiad, Australian Mathematics Competition, the NZ Junior Mathematics Competition, and the NZ Senior Mathematics Competition. Andrew received a bronze medal at the International Mathematical Olympiad, which is considered the 'Maths Olympics' for pre-university students. He has written papers for various mathematical competitions, marked work at the Auckland Mathematical Olympiad and the New Zealand Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp, and helps train New Zealand's International Mathematical Olympiad team.
Andrew is currently reading (studying) Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. As someone who found mathematical Olympiads very enjoyable and beneficial, Andrew wants to make sure everyone has the opportunity to do so, and the NZOMO is a great way to do that.
In 2020, there was a team of 5 markers, all of whom were international-level Olympiad competitors. Several had experience marking at the Auckland Mathematical Olympiad, New Zealand Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp, and/or similar mathematical Olympiads.
Various people helped with promotion and there was also a certificate designer.
