Did you hear about the mango that went on vacation? It had a tropical time!

Mangoes are the most popular fruits in the world. From its captivating red blush skin to its vibrant orange tropical sweet and tangy flesh. Mangoes get my vote!!

With over 1,000 different varieties worldwide, mangoes come in many different shapes, sizes, and colors. Despite their minor physical differences, all varieties of mangoes are loaded with powerful nutrients and are an excellent source of vitamins A, C, and fiber. These nutrients and vitamins are essential for boosting your immune system, supporting healthy skin and vision, protects your cells from damage, and aids in digestion.

When choosing and purchasing perfectly ripe mangoes look for a yellow-orange or red blush color (depending on the variety of mango) on the skin and a sweet aroma. Avoid mangoes with green-gray skin because they will not ripen properly. Mangoes with a loose or wrinkled skin means its past its prime. Although mangoes are available all year round at your local grocery store, you can find the best quality fresh mangoes available from April- September. If you find yourself gravitating to fresh mangoes more, ripe mangoes will stay fresh in the refrigerator for 2-3 days and when frozen properly can last up to 6 months.

When preparing a mango, cut off both ends of the fruit with a sharp knife, making sure to avoid the large pit. Next, peel the skin, place the fruit on the flat end and cut the fruit into desired shape. Mangoes can be consumed fresh, dried, blended with other fruit in a smoothie, or cooked in sweet or savory dishes! Try them all and let us know which is your favorite.

Have a mango-nificient day and chow down on some delicious mangoes!!
