Drexel’s EAT RIGHT PHILLY (ERP) program is known for providing nutrition lessons to students in the School District of Philadelphia, but did you know that EAT RIGHT PHILLY also facilitates nutrition education lessons for adults! Adult lessons might be held at a Parent Café, in collaboration with the school's Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Liaisons, as a part of Student Advisory Council (SAC) meetings or at food assistance and community sites.
So far, EAT RIGHT PHILLY has collaborated with multiple sites since the start of the school year to provide adult programming in a way that works for each group.
Each month, you can find ERP staff collaborating with Food and Wellness Network (FAWN) at the food pantry at Tilden Middle School during pantry hours to provide shoppers with quick tips on incorporating pantry ingredients for nutritious and balanced eating. All community members are also welcome to attend mid-day nutrition lessons where they learn about different nutrition topics, watch or participate in a cooking demonstration and have open discussions about successes or challenges they face around a balanced eating style.
The Dornsife Center for Neighborhood Partnerships hosts afternoon lessons in their kitchen at the Carriage House. Here, EAT RIGHT PHILLY has helped to create a core group of "regulars” who support one another’s wellness goals while learning about nutrition.
At the Stephen and Sandra Sheller 11th Street Family Health Center, EAT RIGHT PHILLY conducts a monthly lesson with the Supportive Older Women’s Network (SOWN) Grand Family Group, where caregivers come to learn about nutrition and discuss ways to implement these balanced eating's styles into their families' lives.
