From the heat of the summer sun to sweating in gym class or playing outside at recess, our bodies are constantly moving and grooving. It is important to listen to our bodies, especially during these warm and active times. About 65% of our bodies are made up of water, so it is essential to hydrate with water throughout the day. Even if you are not feeling thirsty, drinking water is necessary. One easy way to drink more water is to carry a reusable water bottle, sip throughout the day, and refill it as needed.
Not a fan of plain water? Try jazzing up your water by infusing it with herbs, vegetables, and fruits! Eat Right Philly Nutrition Coordinators have hosted infused water tastings throughout the school year at events like Back to School Nights, Report Card Conferences, and other wellness events. At these events, students and family members have enjoyed tasting water infused with cucumber, lemon and mint, or pineapple, strawberry and basil, combinations that are tasty and nutritious. Remember, low-fat milk, fruits, and veggies are also good sources of water!
Eat Right Philly Nutrition Coordinators enjoy encouraging students and families to listen to their bodies, stay hydrated and share their success stories with others.
