What we do:
Project R.I.C.E.+ is a nation-wide collection & distribution drive which aims to bring food & daily essentials to vulnerable families in Singapore. Project R.I.C.E+ is championed by a group of Singapore Red Cross’ youth leaders to serve the local vulnerable families every year.
Frequency:
Our phases are usually held in the summer break (June to August). However, the commitment for the committee runs for approximately a full year (generally starting in November/December to the following year's August/September).
Generally, our phases can be categorized into the following:
(1) Supermarket Phase - 4 days (usually over 2 weekends)
—> fundraising at our supermarket partner's outlets
(2) Packing & Distribution Phase - 2 days (usually on weekends)
—> packing & distribution of the bundle sets to the beneficiaries
(3) Beneficiary Engagement Phase - 1 day (usually on a weekend)
—> engagement with our beneficiaries
**Do take note that we will only be conducting the interview around October**
A short review:
Something unique about our project is that our project comprises of several outreach to help our beneficiaries! This includes fundraising, packing and distribution of the bundle sets for the beneficiaries and even engaging the beneficiaries! By joining our project, you will get to embark on an all encompassing volunteering journey as you go through the various phases! The experiences you gain are definitely memorable as you will go through both the back end event planning, as well as the upfront satisfaction in watching the items reach the beneficiaries (and the smiles on their face of course)!
