Taught by: Dr Philippe Raynal
Content (Structure/Organization): -
Prof provides a really detailed syllabus on what the course will look like and what his expectations are. Would be valuable for students to give this a rigorous read-through and then decide whether or not the module is for them. Most of it is set in stone and not too flexible (ie. deadlines).
Accessibility and Assessment: 2
Almost abysmal.
Manageability of Workload: 2
There are much more assessment components than your average already-heavy USP/NUSC modules, which can be quite frustrating (ie. audio recordings of discussions, mini outlines). Not many weekly readings but there are small assignments scattered throughout the semester combined with bigger submission pieces/milestones every 3 weeks or so.
Ease/Difficulty of Attaining Grades:
The class size this semester was quite small and sci/data majors were clearly more advantaged. Prof has high expectations.
Presence of Technical Learning:
Work is pretty technical, but it is quite apparent the Prof tries his best to somewhat make it easier for students with less background knowledge to keep up. Plenty of math work, deriving formulas and looking at data on various softwares.
Learning Value/Recommendation: 2
Lessons were dry. Was more interested in the nuclear aspect of the class but that was barely touched on.
About the Instructor:
Prof is super knowledgeable, but maybe not the best teacher for those with no data/sci background.
