The I/O Psychology Lab jointly operated by Professor Wan-Jing April Chang and members of the lab was established in February 2010. The main purpose is to share theories and applications of organizational psychology and human resources through research, teaching, and promotion.

In recent years, the lab has focused on workplace well-being and workplace mental health research. The research topics include work enthusiasm, workflow, workplace mindfulness, self-compassion, work stress, and career-family conflict and gain. It has published dozens of research results on issues such as the ambidexterity of work enthusiasm and intrinsic motivation, the mediating effect of workflow on energy levels during lunch break and after work, thoughts during work, the effects of attention focus and wandering on performance and well-being, the role of workplace mindfulness in the context of media multitasking, and the exploration of physical and mental health of unemployed workers from the perspective of deprivation theory. The lab also offers a course on Workplace Happiness. The course combines theory and practice to put into practice personalized happiness plans in work and life, such as mindfulness meditation, gratitude journaling, doing good deeds, and self-compassion exercises. In addition, the I/O Psychology Lab regularly publishes popular science articles through its Facebook fan group (which has 8,300+ fans as of 2021), and has authorized the 104 HR Market Classroom the use of its articles. In addition, it also conducts academic promotion through lectures, columns, and magazine interviews.

In 2021, the first Tsinghua University Human Resources Forum was held to promote industry-academia collaboration in human resources, reduce the gap between learning and practice, assist students in career preparation, pre-match employment, and enhance the reputation of the department. The forum originated 13 years ago from the corporate internship courses offered by the Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling. This time, the event included expert lectures. Former President Mao Chi-Kuo of the Executive Yuan was invited to talk about organizational changes; twelve academic experts and human resources directors of well-known domestic and foreign companies were invited to discuss emerging topics such as employee physical and mental health, sustainable corporate development, and digitalization of human resources; and corporate internships and talent competitions were presented. In addition, a four-generation corporate mentorship system is promoted, where the four generations refer to corporate mentors, in-service master’s programs, full-time master’s programs, and undergraduate students. Current HR leaders are invited to participate in the cultivation of future HR leaders and promote cross-generational exchanges.

Furthermore, to encourage students to demonstrate their talents so that they can be seen and recognized by more people, the lab also provides various resources and guidance. The outstanding performance of the students is evident to all. In the HRU Human Resource Professional Skills Competition for University Students where a total of 129 colleges and universities from both sides of the Taiwan Strait participated, students from the Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling (National Tsing Hua University team) won first prize in the team award. For individual awards, the students won special award in workplace readiness, first prize in HR-English and practical design, and second prize in case analysis and leaderless group discussion.

In addition, the students formed a Story Life inter-school and interdisciplinary team (industrial, commercial, and counseling), which won the National Tsinghua University Zhu-Meng Scholarship. The team conceived the Voice Out project to promote public understanding of guidance teachers and propose human resources projects through a cooperative alliance with enterprises, professional organizations, and schools. Podcasts, documentaries, handbooks, and academic papers are produced and provided to stakeholders for free through various media (such as official websites, YouTube, podcast, FB, IG), thus truly achieving a receiving and giving relationship with society.
