Awarded students must undertake at least 15 hours/per week of Mandarin courses offered by the Chinese Language Center (CLC) at NTHU.
The classes are held at 9:10-12:00 in the morning or 13:00-16:20 in the afternoon, depending on students’ language level.
CLC will run a placement test to determine their proficiency level upon enrollment. All the courses are divided into 3 levels: elementary, intermediate, and advanced, with each further divided into several sub-levels.
Awarded students will be invited to join free cultural workshops and one-day/ two-day trips to experience local Taiwanese culture.
A variety of extracurricular activities are also provided for awarded students to get closer to Taiwanese students and the city they stay.
PBLL features student-centered tasks focusing on experiential learning through active engagement. Awarded students will be arranged to practice Mandarin through real-world and culturally meaningful projects, such as diving into an aboriginal culture by interviewing the ethnic group and experiencing their traditional ceremonies.
Awarded students will have chance interacting with local Taiwanese students in elementary schools through English teaching and culture sharing activities.
