NTHU consistently ranks as one of the premier universities in East Asia.
In 2025, NTHU was ranked 210th globally, second in Taiwan. In terms of pure research, NTHU holds the top spot in Taiwan.
In addition to academic excellence, NTHU is also a top university in Taiwan in terms of technology transfer revenue and U.S. patents granted over the past six years.
NTHU is located next to the Hsinchu Science Park, often referred to as the “Silicon Valley” of Taiwan. Additionally, the university is surrounded by numerous national laboratories and is home to 23 other outstanding research centers.

All awarded students will be issued a student ID.
This ID provides access to the library, all sports facilities, your dormitory, and faculty buildings. Additionally, the student ID functions as a rechargeable payment card that can be used at most stores and restaurants in Taiwan. It also serves as a transportation card for buses, trains, high-speed rail, intercity buses, and metro systems.

There are three major student restaurants on campus: XiaoChiBu, ShuiMu and FungYunLou.
Students with a limited budget are recommended dining at the student restaurants rather than dining outside the campus.

There are also optical shop and laundry room, providing students and faculty members of NTHU with convenient lifestyle services.

All foreign students will have priority to be assigned a space in on-campus dormitories. Multiple types of rooms are available for graduate students to choose from. For undergraduate students, 4-person rooms are available. Foreign students can submit applications to the Division of Student Housing. A housing notification will be sent to you prior to your arrival. Rooms with air-conditioning also involve extra utility fees.

To reach Hsinchu Railway Station from NTHU, you can take city buses No. Blue 1, No. 5608 or No. 182 from the bus pick-up stop in front of the Starbucks, located across from the school gate. This will take you directly to the train station.

NTHU Library is located near the campus entrance in "Learning Resource Center Wang Hong Building". The overall concept of the library is developed around four main themes, represented by the acronym NTHU:
N—Nature, referring to the campus's natural landscapes and ecology;

H—Humanities, emphasizing humanistic values and practices;
U—Uniqueness, highlighting distinctive tastes and core values.
