THE EDUCATION COMPONENT INCLUDES
SCHOLARSHIP
NSPDK, INC. awards a $6,000 scholarship to a male and a female graduating senior in each of the five regions (East, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest, and Far West). Annually, the Sorority presents over $100,000 in scholarships, which includes regional and chapter awards. Kappa Omicron Tau (KOT) members are eligible to apply for a $1,000 scholarship, and Sorority members matriculating in an accredited doctoral program are eligible to apply for a $1,000 scholarship awarded by the Perpetual Scholarship Foundation.
TEACH-A-RAMA
Teach-A-Rama is designed to educate teachers, parents, students, and the community on various aspects and issues in education. This event may take the form of an educational forum, workshops, seminars, lectures, or courses
EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
This program focuses on the provisions of meaningful learning experiences for pre-school children that will improve their readiness for school and subsequent scholastic achievement.
LITERACY
The Literacy program includes academic skills centers that supplement classroom work by providing opportunities to enhance proficiency in such areas as reading, math, language arts, science, social studies, technology and African American History.
COMMISSION ON CIVIL RIGHTS AND EDUCATION
This commission focuses on matters and issues involving education and the civil rights of children, youth, adults, teachers and professionals in education.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIP TRAINING
This program provides educational and sororal leadership training to meet the goals of the Sorority, administrative roles of committee members and officers; members’ roles, and all components of the Y.E.S. Program.
