This project is a handmade A5 book with sewn binding, entirely crafted by hand, from the binding and construction to the design and illustrations.
A book that opens a door into the world of Gulf poetry, a world that sincerely expresses human emotions and the soul’s deep connection with the surrounding nature.
Every word embodies a feeling poems that speak of love, longing, hope, and farewell, accompanied by illustrations that reflect these emotions.
The book feels like a poet’s personal notebook filled with his emotions, his words, his memories. Each page reveals what he loved, what he missed, and what he longed for. It’s like holding his heart between the covers.
Each illustration was chosen to reflect the emotions of its accompanying poem. Using oil pastels as the medium adds a textured, raw, and blurry feelmirroring the intensity and complexity of the emotions.
Transparent paper overlays the oil pastel drawings, symbolizing how emotions can feel blurred or unclear, only revealing their true form when gently lifted.

The book also includes tangible, removable elements that bring the poet’s world to life like love letters exchanged between him and his beloved, a dried flower she once gave him, a photograph, and a record player barcode that plays music. Some pages vary in size, texture, and shape, mirroring the unpredictability and layers of emotion within the poems.
At the end of this book, we leave you with an emotional and thoughtful journey through the world of Gulf poetry, feelings of love, hope, and nostalgia slowly unfold.
Most of the illustrations were inspired by images found on Pinterest. Some were based on photos from the account 3lzeg, and others were taken from a personal page, with permission kindly granted by the original photographer.
