Our Next Manor Mingle is Saturday August 9, 2025 at Atlanta Youth Academy
Norwood Manor is a quiet community, located in southeast Atlanta, GA five miles south of Five Points, near the Lakewood Fairgrounds and the historic South View Cemetery. This middle-class community has existed since the late 1940s. It is one of the first subdivisions developed by African Americans for African Americans in Atlanta, annexed in 1952 as part of a larger expansion of Atlanta into southeast Fulton County. The original residents were hard-working middle-class families from all walks of life: postal workers, steelworkers, railroad employees, school teachers, entrepreneurs, etc. Today's families in "The Manor" are similar in makeup. There are a total of 150 homes in the community known as "The Manor" as well as several homes across the Georgia Southern Railroad that are an extended part of our neighborhood. Constitution Apartments and Thomasville Estates are also a part of our community. Schools in the area include John Wesley Dobbs Elementary, Thomasville Elementary, Price Middle School, Atlanta Youth Academy and the Schools of South Atlanta.
