You cannot apply for a resident permit/visa until you have your original letter of acceptance which will be delivered electronically. The electronic copy is acceptable. Please note that resident permit/visa requirements can change at any moment and our offices will not be informed. It is the student’s responsibility to check the embassy website for updated procedures and required documentation.
Although students may not apply without their acceptance letter, it is good practice to begin collecting supporting documentation because it could take some time to put together your application packet. If the requirements state you must open a bank account, BI Norway has informed our office that exchange students do not need to transfer money and you will receive more detailed instructions from BI Norway with the acceptance letter. Students should still look at the requirements on the embassy website early.
