It is important to apply for housing as soon as possible.
University sponsored housing is guaranteed as long as students meet the deadline for step 1 (May 1 for fall and October 1 for spring). If you do not apply by the deadline, housing cannot be guaranteed. There is an application fee of NOK 1000 ($125) due upon completion of step 1.
The housing application is a two-step process:
1) an online Housing Pre-Application to BI
2) an online application directly to one of our housing providers.
To be guaranteed housing, it is important that you complete step 1 (Housing Pre-Application) as soon as possible. You do not need your acceptance letter to begin your application for housing. You may begin the process using the link below:
Once you complete step 1, you will not receive an email confirmation: however, in the middle of May/October you will receive an email to begin step 2. You may not skip to step 2 without the authorization of BI. Using the above link, students may research the different types of housing available.
It is recommended that students use university housing. Finding housing through the private market can be difficult and quite expensive: however, it is not required to use university housing.
If you have questions regarding housing, it is best to contact your housing provider directly. The UIUC Gies business study abroad office has no authority over host university policy and procedure. If it is a situation where you are not getting a response, please let us know.
Prior to arrival to campus, check with your housing provider to inquire about the earliest move-in date. If you plan to arrive early and are using university housing, you may be required to pay an extra fee for early move-in or may need to find other accommodations. Make sure to check the time that the housing office will be open for check-in.
