PTO Board members are volunteers who have committed to serving for at least 1 school year (treasurer position commits to 2 years). Board members are also responsible for chairing at least one event. Nominations for board positions are submitted at the end of each school year and a vote is held at our final meeting (typically in June).

A favorite school memory: being able to help a student who had just arrived from Guatemala and spoke no English at all learn to speak some words in English. My best friend and I were selected to be his “student teachers” and, each day for one hour, we had our own classroom to help him develop some his language skills. We used visuals, gestures, objects and more to help him learn to communicate some words in English.
A favorite NW tradition:
Field Day. I love seeing the joy on the students’ faces when they get to play the games and their laughter when they are playing the silliest of games!

PTO Board Position Descriptions & Nomination Forms

Northwest PTO recently voted to fill positions on the executive board for the 2023-2024 school year. "PTO" stands for "Parent Teacher Organization" and we welcome any parents or guardians of Northwest Elementary students to get involved! While anyone can volunteer, PTO Board members are volunteers who commit to serving for at least 1 school year (the treasurer position commits to 2 years). Board members are also responsible for co-chairing at least one event per school year.

If you are interested or would like to nominate someone you think would be a great candidate, please print and complete a nominations form below and send it back to school with your student. The nominating committee will contact all nominees. The election will take place at the June PTO meeting on Tuesday, June 13, 2023. The deadline for submission is Friday, May 19, 2023.
