Individual preparedness is extremely important during an emergency and we strive to educate our community with preparedness skills. We welcome and appreciate any contributions that volunteers can make to both our organization and their community. Please feel free to attend our meetings, fairs, and workshops if you are interested in learning more about emergency preparedness and related activities in your community. NEMCo also accepts volunteer teens, who can earn community service hours for their contributions. Volunteers with completed forms will be entered into the Volgistics database and alerted via email about upcoming events and activations.
Note that members will be asked to update volunteer worker forms on a yearly basis. The completed forms will need to be provided to NEMCo's Emergency Manager for review and processing. You can receive the complete packet at any of our monthly meetings or trainings and give the completed/signed documents to a Steering Committee member for forwarding to our Emergency Manager, who will then contact you once the background check has been completed.
Non-credentialed Community Volunteers may only participate in tabletop/classroom education and meetings unless the Emergency Manager grants approval before an event, where they will be paired with a credentialed volunteer.
Credentialed NEMCo Volunteers must complete the state-certified emergency volunteer worker form (see below) and the courses identified below as FEMA-wide training courses to become a fully-credentialed member. Members will then be able to participate in any deployments/activations or direct interactions with the public other than at community events.
