MOTA East Side club hosted an event on Saturday 8/8/2026 and Sunday 8/9/2026. I only rode the Saturday event in the Senior B class with 3 other riders and placed First with 4 dabs. My primary goal was to finish the 5 loop 8 section event and of course would like to do well.
On the first loop I started in Section #3 and took an dab from a slide of the rear wheel and another dab in #8 that had a loose small uphill left hand turn that seemed to challenge many. I cleaned loops 2 as well as 5 and took the same dab in section 8 in loops 3 and 4.
The MOTA club Bent Fenders hosted the 6/28/2026 event north west of Flint. The loop was spectator friendly and I finished all five loops in FIRST PLACE! The first section for the novice class which I ride in the Senior B class had a steep downhill with a tree at the bottom that looked daunting to me so I started on the 3rd section. Actullay after attempting section 1 it was no big deal. Section 2 was an uphill left hand turn then across the side hill with a downhill exit. Section 3 was a log section with just a few roll over logs in it. #4 concerned me with a left hand turn across a root or 2 and going too wide meant going down a steep hill but after cleaning it it wasnt a big deal. Section 5 was flat over a couple of logs then just some turns. Section 6 was Biff's section and had a couple of tight turns with a handle bar wiggle set of trees to go through. Section 7 was where I took all 8 dabs which had a tight right hand turn requiring a strategic dab to get through. Hopping right would have been ideal but I haven't mastered that. The finishing section 8 was a side hill transverse with a tight side hill right turn followed by a downhill left turn.
The hour meter showed 1.8 hours for the day.
Loop 1: 0,0,0,0,0,0,2,0
Loop 2: 0,0,0,0,0,0,2,0
Loop 3: 0,0,0,0,0,0,1,0
Loop 4: 0,0,0,0,0,0,1,0
Loop 5: 0,0,0,0,0,0,2,0
A few videos I was able to capture.
Just Brad in section 3.
The Mid Michigan MOTA club hosted a 2 day Saturday & Sunday trials on May 16 and 17. The Saturday event is a Vintage/Recreational one with no MOTA championship points awarded. I skipped it and instead attended the Sunday event. I entered the Senior B class since I was "recovering" from a wipeout suffered the previous Sunday at the Ryan Young Trials School.
The loop is long and after 2 of them I decided I was done. One take-away is to always wait to watch someone else in my class to attempt a section because on section #3 I ran through the wrong gate an scored a 5.
Loop 1: 0, 0, 5, 1, 0, 0, 3, 2, 0, 0 = 11
Loop 2: 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 2, 0, 0, 0 = 2
I competed in the first 2026 MOTA event hosted by the Michiana Club held on Saturday April 25th, 2026. There were 8 sections with 5 loops.
Section 1: This up and down hills side section started with an uphill off camber 8 inch log then straight uphill with a much bigger log at the top. After that the line traveled downhill with a tight turn right then left through a tight log on the left with a tree on the right. One dab the first loop with 4 cleans after that.
Section 2: The start of this section was a right hand turn then dropped downhill left. Then there were some small logs to go over then a left turn over a nasty roots bounded by a small log then a bigger log to the exit. The first loop I mistakingly went through the beginner gate and took a five but cleaned it the rest of the day.
Section 3: This section was a down hill, tight left/right/left turn through 3 trees, then up then down then up to the exit. One dab the first loop then 2 dabs the 4th and 5th loop. Basically the tight turn through the trees through me off.
Section 4: This section started with a slight uphill off camber right urn then tight left to a medium log the turn right to another medium log to the exit. All cleans here.
Section 5: This section was more of a challenge featuring a steep loose left hand uphill climb that took some dabs until I finally cleaned it on the last loop.
Section 6: I cleaned this section each time that started with a side hill traverse then dropped right followed by 2 medium logs to the exit.
Section 7: One dab the first loop then 4 cleans in this section that started with a sharp tight uphill left turn then dropped down near the water then thread up between 2 trees and a root. After that 2 turns then a little rocky exit.
Section 8: This section is highlighted in the video that featured a matrix of logs then some tight loose turns. 2 cleans with a dab on one loop and 2 dabs on 2 other loops.
Overall: The Michiana CLub hosted a 2 day event but after competing in the Saturday event I was exhausted and decided to skip the Sunday event. Also the drive is over 3 hours and that was also part of the decision not to go back. In the future I would be better to take the RV and campout for the weekend.
This was the first Senior A event which competes over the Intermediate line and I ended up 4th out of 6 competitors basically due to the 5 on section 2. Mental mistake.
