“It came without generators, it came without loggers.
It came without towers, tri-banders, or remote SDR'-ers. Maybe Field Day doesn’t come from a large committee. Maybe Field Day perhaps can be just a little bit less.”
January, 2022:
The guys got together Saturday for Lunch at Martha's Excheange. we also welcomed 2 new members Jim McKearin KC1MDU, and Bill Freeman KE1G.
In the picture from left to right around the table are Patrick W1YTT, Craig N1SFT, Randall N1KRB, Jim KC1MDU, Bill KE1G, Dennis KC1LGQ, and John KB1EEU. Some of the toys shown were a uSDX, a Lab 599, and a QCX CW

Ya better not shout,,,,,, Ya better not cry,,,,, Ya better not pout I'm tellin' ya why......
OK so you know the final line. Yes it is almost Christmas.
N1KRB and I did a final POTA at the Robert Frost Farm in Derry. A real chill in the air that morning. Randal was the winner of the QSO award. I was putzing with one of the uSDX china knock offs of DL2MAN's great radio. But the one i got had fake parts and low tramsmit. A two day fight with the Ebay Seller and i got my refund in full even though they say NO RETURNS.
Tomorrow morning we (XYL & I) will be hitting the road on the Good Old Family Christmas Trip. The KX3 is safely packed in along with a variety of Antennas. With luck I will squeeze in a few QSO's and maybe even a POTA.
So From our QTH to Yours as Clement Moore once said,
"Merry Christmas to all, and to all a Good Night"

The POTA Explorer Team (me & N1KRB) did a First Activation of Totten Trails State Forrest, K4971, in Henniker.
This was not for the faint of heart. And the team had to contend with fierce wild insects. Without thinking we did not do our Tick Protection and I collected 10 of the little critters. Who would have thought with ice and snow on the ground we would have ticks.
The road ( if you can call it that) leading up to the Trail Head was ice and rocks. We opted to hike in. This turned out to be quite a challenge with all out equipment. The rigs were IC718 for N1KRB and the KX3 for me. We are now working on downsizing the packs.
Farthest QSO was NL7V in Fairbanks AK on 10 w. Our total QSO’s were W1=10 and N1=22 for a grand total of 32 QSO’s for the parks First Activation. Sorrry about the sideways pix. This website will not rotat a pic. We need to move to a real site.
SOOOO is the Spring POTA Bug getting to you yet????? As the weather gets warmer lets get back to our impromptu activations and camaraderie. Always great to see what projects everyone else is up too.
LAST so far only 3 opinions on where we do Summer Field Day. Any more out there?????

Hello All,
I hope you have all been having some radioactive fun. In July NNEFARO was well represented at Lobstah Con in Brunswick Maine by Me W1YTT, Randall N1KRB, Jean K1AVM, and Dennis K1LGQ. From there Randall went on to activate the farthest point East in the US. I activated parks in the Belfast area.
I emailed Andrew Cushing for permission to activate Fort Stark again this year for Veterans Day. I'll let you know as soon as I know.
Also we found an event called International Lighthouse Lightship Weekend coming up August 19-21. The closest Lighthouse to us is Fort Constitution around the corner from Fort Stark. It is an NH Historic Site and a POTA. So i asked Andrew for permission to activate it on Saturday Aug 20. Again I’ll let you know, but it sounds like fun. It is NOT a contest so we get to use all ham band even the WARC’s. Of course this is all weather dependent.
So what has everyone else been doing??????

Veterans Day 2022 @ Fort Stark
Well...... I found out the other day why we have not heard back from NH Historic Sites about our Veterans Day Activation........The guy i was emailing is NO LONGER THERE....
BUT, a phone call put me in touch with the New Guy and we had a nice conversation. He was excited about our group and said he would check into our request and get back...... AND HE DID..... We are set for activation on Nov. 11 2022 starting at 0900 untill 1600 hrs.
Hope to see as many as possible for a great day of "Playing Radio".
The Final Tally for Veteran‘s Day 2022
Well, the antennas are down. The radios are packed (ready forWFD23). And the numbers are in. Final QSO count for NE1FO’s Fort Stark Veteran’s Day Activation was 63.
During the activation we got to talk to some folks and even helped out a potential new Ham on how to program his HT.
Thanks to tne New Hampshire Department of Historic Sites for the use of Fort Stark for the third year in a row.
This is what we stated with..14 INCHES OF FROZEN SNOW
This is how we cleared our operating spot.
Sorry about the sideways pix..... There is NO ROTATE on this site🤬🤯
Happy First Day of Daylight Standard Time. Hope everyone Fell Back this morning. And with that starts a New Season of Fun POTA’s. First being our Veterans Day Operation. Unfortunately Ft. Stark and Ft. Constitution are both closed for renovations. Fort McClary (a POTA Site) in Kittery Point Maine will be our operational site for this year. Tentative plans now are to be setup and operational by 0900 hrs on Saturday Nov 11 (11/11/2023) and stay on the air until about 1600 hrs. The main site will be using an EFHW into the Tri-Plexer for 20 & 40 meters. With the good propagation lately on the upper bands we are hoping to also have stations on 15,17,& 10 meters. For this operation www will be using the NNEFARO Call sign. I will be Pre Spotting us on POTA and Facebook sites.
As always everyone is invited. Since it is a Saturday I’m hoping for a good turnout. I would appreciate if you let me know if you are coming but if your plans change at the last minute and you can make it great. No Reservations Necessary ( like always). Hope to see you there.
Some thoughts for other operations are Winter Solstice at NH Stone Henge and Winter Field Day.

It was another Chilly Success. Activated Ft. Mc Clary in Kittery Me, K-7989. Temps in the low 40’s and breeze off the water at about 12 MPH. The team of N1KRB, W1YTT, & KC1LKO wracked up over 60 QSO’s
Hope every one has a nice Thanksgiving and find some time to GOTA @ a POTA.
