Β SILVER SPURS POM SQUADΒ
The Official 6th Grade Pom, Jazz, and Hip Hop Competitive Team
Under the Direction of Ms. Joycelyn Parker | Null Middle School Dance Department
π₯ About the Team
Welcome to the Silver Spurs Pom Squad, the newest addition to the NMS Stallion Dance Department!
The Silver Spurs are a performance and competitive pom squad made up of motivated 6th grade students who want to grow as dancers, performers, and leaders. Think of the Sparks as our Junior Varsity team, a training and performance program designed to prepare dancers for the Varsity-level Stallion Dance Team(7th and 8th grade).
This team brings together school pride, teamwork, and the excitement of performing for live crowds while building strong foundational skills in pom, jazz, and hip hop.
Β
My goal as the director is to mold confident, respectful, disciplined, and dynamic young dancers who can handle the energy of competition and the joy of performance. The Sparks program will give every member the chance to grow, shine, and be part of something incredible!

To audition or remain on the team, students must:
Be a 6th grade student at Null Middle School
Turn in a copy (not the original) of their completed athletic physical
Provide a copy of their most recent report card with all grades 70 & above : Last 5th grade report card
Maintain good academic standing and behavior on campus
Participation in other on campus organizations is allowed as long as there are no schedule conflicts.
β οΈ Important: If your dancer plans to audition for the Stallion Dance Team in 7th and/or 8th grade, they will not be able to participate in other sports once accepted. Dance is a sport. SDT is a year-round commitment with constant performances. This is a great experience for you to decide if SDT is the best fit for you your 7th and/or 8th grade year.
π€ Commitment
Being a Silver Spurs is a privilege, not a requirement. 6th graders, in all districts, are not allowed to participate in extracurricular programs under UIL. Because we have dance teams instead of drill teams, weβre able to give some performance outlets under Fine Arts.
This is an extracurricular team, and members are expected to:
Attend every scheduled practice and performance
Communicate conflicts ahead of time (not the day of)
Represent the dance department with respect, teamwork, and enthusiasm
Consistent attendance and effort are key to staying performance-ready.
π« Why Join the Silver Spurs?
Build dance skills in pom, jazz, and hip hop
Learn discipline, confidence, and teamwork
Represent your school in high-energy performances
Be part of a family of dancers who support and inspire one another
Become more prepared for the Stallion Dance Team tryouts in your 7th and 8th grade years
This is your chance to shine, learn, and grow while having an unforgettable experience on and off the stage!
We canβt wait to see the next generation of Silver Spurs light up the floor!
