Mechanics and rules

We don't have the long and official list of 'rules' on how to communicate, and, instead, rely on the maturity of the players. Note that this Larp and the belonging discord server have an 18+ policy.

However: If ever you feel that a line has been crossed, please speak out about it. You can raise the topic with the person(s) involved, or ask an ST (StoryTeller) to help sort it out. ST refers here to all that carry the ST role.

Other than that, we ask you for this:

1. Communication, say what you like and don't like, but do so respectfully. Harassment of others on this server and larp both in and out of character, be it verbal or otherwise, is considered an offense. Please respect personal No-Go topics if they’re made public. And no, there’s nothing funny about that.

2. Forgiveness, we're all going to make mistakes. If you screw up, own it and fix it. If someone else screws up, give them a chance to make things right, see #1

3. Patience, anything worthwhile takes time. Let's all agree to take a couple of extra breaths now and then. We all got a RL and we all got our times when we can do things. Don’t hurry anyone to do your bidding. In turn be respectful of each other’s time and therefore specific about the If and When you can do or cannot do things.

4. Assume good intent, it's really easy to misunderstand someone from a different part of the world with a different background, or while they’re speaking a foreign language. Also, different cultures have different ways of communicating. Let's give everyone the benefit of the doubt and ask to clarify if something seems off or wrong. (Including bad jokes.)

5. Commitment is key. A lot is based on good faith and a basic honor system - be fair, don't cheat; if you make a commitment, keep it. If you think you deserve a bonus, you’re allowed to point it out, but please stay away from *demanding* your Extra. You might meet some harsh realities.

6. Self Care comes first: It's just a game. The characters may be monsters, but you’re a human. Real life is first, second, and third priority. Take care of yourself, don't lose sleep over things that happen in game. Please maintain balance and perspective. Help others to do so.

7. Help; and if you need help, in whatever fashion, ask. If someone asks and you're in a position to be helpful: Do it. Be it game mechanics, or organic chemistry for a student IRL. While communicating in discord keep it short and clear when discussing, feel free to open a thread - the ST can’t backread a thesis full of side topics in the main channel.
Do you have any suggestions? Share it!

8. Have fun, we're telling stories with great people, about a colorful cast in a magical and dark world where anything is possible. Make it fun for others! (See: Play to Uplift)

9. Stay safe. Know your own limits and attend the workshops with an open mind. While the latter will be mandatory and part of the game event, we can’t force you to learn with us. But we will sort out anyone who violates the safety and game mechanisms and is harming participants through that.

10. Legal issues are to be avoided. Especially as we may play in public, be conscious and careful about gun laws (yes, police might take a fake weapon for real and react to it) and other restrictions around copyright and alike. If you’re not familiar with the local laws: Please ask!
