about.
He loves the words observation and exploration, besides drama, laughter,
and experimentation.
His journey as an Assistant Professor [c] at the Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, involved teaching theory and studio courses for B.Arch and M.Arch (Urban Regeneration). He also supervised students for theses in the B.Arch and M.Plan disciplines. His role extended beyond academia, as he contributed significantly as a Core Team Member for NAAC, resulting in the university being accredited with an A++ grade, and as a nodal officer for NIRF ranking.
His passion for research includes conserving natural resources [land, water, and forest], Indigenous knowledge systems, architecture, and ecology, enhancing circular design and ecological systems in regions, cities, and buildings by implementing nature-based solutions/circular design and co-design with living systems.
With 7+ years of experience in academia and industry, besides his academic position, he worked as an architect for the Nimad and Malva regions, where he designed residential bungalows, resorts, schools, and community buildings using Indigenous architecture, rammed earth, vaults, and dot ki chat.
Numbers: He has completed 2 research projects, authored 1 book and 4 chapters, and published 8 papers in international and national journals, with 35 research citations and over 2,00,000 reads. Additionally, he has curated 2 international exhibitions and conducted 11 workshops focusing on Indian cities and built environments.
Informal Lens: He travelled to over 120+ Indigenous villages in India using various modes, including bullock carts, walking, cycling, and buses. During his journey, there were a few villages where he travelled and stayed with Gammati groups [a local group of people who travel for daily wages and some religious purposes], where he intended to document the socio-cultural and regenerative techniques of the architecture.
Nitesh also hosts urban sketching workshops, documentation of vernacular architecture techniques, energy systems, and water management for Indigenous regions, and paints the world through his spatial mapping.
