Know Your Evacuation Zone
In an emergency, Santa Cruz County public safety agencies use designated evacuation zones to identify areas affected by an Evacuation Warning, Evacuation Order, or other emergency action.

NOTE: Knowing your evacuation zone does not automatically register you for emergency notifications.
Genasys Protect can be accessed from a desktop or laptop computer through its website, and by downloading the Genasys Protect app to your mobile phone.
Santa Cruz County Emergency Alerts
Santa Cruz County Emergency Alerts
CruzAware is Santa Cruz County’s emergency alert and warning system. Residents can register to receive important emergency information by text message, phone call, email, and through their mobile app.
During a wildfire or other emergency, alerts may include evacuation warnings, evacuation orders, shelter information, road closures, severe weather information, and other public safety instructions.
When registering, be sure to include your home address so the system can send alerts that apply to your location.
You may also add other important locations, such as a workplace, school, rental property, or the home of a family member.
Santa Cruz County’s Office of Response, Recovery & Resilience provides current information about CruzAware, including how the system works and how emergency notifications are delivered.

Review your CruzAware account periodically and update your contact information or saved locations when something changes.
If you move, change phone numbers, change email addresses, or want to monitor an additional location, update your account.

No single emergency communication system is guaranteed to reach everyone during every emergency.
Power outages, damaged infrastructure, cellular congestion, phone settings, internet outages, and other conditions may affect how information is received.
