Firewise USA® certification requires a prioritized, forward-looking strategy for
reducing wildfire risk through vegetation management, building design, and education.
The three-year action plan is a mandatory component of the community's risk reduction strategy.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
Minimum Requirement: Each property contributes at least one hour per year to wildfire risk-reduction activities.
Community Goal: With 71 homes in our boundary, our annual target is 71 volunteer hours - or the monetary equivalent - using the 2025 Independent Sector's Value of Volunteer Time.
HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED:
Participate: Join community fuel-reduction workdays held in winter and spring.
Attend: Take part in free educational workshops on wildfire risk-reduction practices.
Stay Informed: Visit our website and watch for email newsletters with upcoming opportunities.
Work: Create and maintain defensible space around your home to reduce ignition risk and support firefighter operations.
Contribute: If you can't volunteer time, donate or hire a laborer to help us meet our annual goal (hours-equivalent).
Volunteer: Join the Firewise leadership committee or help with outreach and events.
