Standard 8 - Collaborative Relationships – The competent teacher builds and maintains collaborative relationships to foster cognitive, linguistic, physical, and social and emotional development. This teacher works as a team member with professional colleagues, students, parents or guardians, and community members.
Artifact: Parent communication samples during novice teaching
Grade: 5th
Project: Positive interactions between teachers and parents are known to improve a student's academic achievement and social/emotional well-being. I find it incredibly important to foster an open forum of communication. Attached below are several ways that I was able to interact with parents via newsletters, emails, and posts.

I understand that some parents and students are uneasy about having a student teacher so I wanted to take the opportunity to open up the lines of communication and offer a bit of info about myself.
