This advanced half pipe coaster provides enough thrills to appeal to those with a craving for adrenaline without being too wild to alienate younger or more timid guests. Yes it’s a coaster, but it’s meant to be more fun than thrilling.
Guests queue up on one side of the Shore Shack. There is a small outdoor section of switchbacks that extend beyond the building itself. Once inside, the queue is full of skateboarding memorabilia and video screens that detail a brief history of the sport and also explain different skateboard tricks, with a focus on the elements that the coaster emulates with its layout. Featured in the video are Tony Hawk, Lizzy Armanto, Nigel Jones, and Elissa Steamer. Clips from the show Rocket Power are spliced intermittently throughout the six minute video loop.
Once at the front of the queue, Reggie, Otto, Raymundo, and Tito star in the safety spiel. This will include clips of Twister wiping out while trying new tricks, and Sam being tentative but brave on his board.
The coaster is manufactured by Intamin, and the track structure itself reflects that, but the ride vehicle much more closely resembles the ones found on rides such as RC Racer at Walt Disney Studios Paris. The vehicles are fairly open, and use simple lap bar restraints. The ride can sit 32 passengers, arranged in eight rows of four, with half facing forward and half facing backward.
