Explore Nice Côte d'Azur - useful tourism website
Transport in Nice - Lignes d'Azur has lots of information on local buses and trams. The phone app is very useful with realtime bus and route information. Trainline has information for the local and international trains from Nice Riquier and Nice Ville.
Tramline from apartment to Nice centre. Tramline 1 is very useful for getting into the centre of Nice - use tramstop 'Republique' at the end of Rue Beaumont on Rue de la Republique (5 mins walk from the apartment). The direction 'Henri Sappia' takes you into Nice centre.
Parc de la Colline du Chateau - this is a 'must do' and is a lovely walk up to a park on the hill near the Nice Old Town. It has amazing views and some cafés and the remains of the old castle. It is an easy walk up the steps - but there is a free lift service available from the western side of the hill.
Palais Lascaris - stunning baroque-style ‘palace’ in Vieux Nice. Built in the early 1600’s for the richest and most powerful family in Nice
Marche des Fleurs - great market on the Cours Salaya surrounded by lovely restaurants on both sides. Market is mainly flowers and food but it transforms into a super antiques market every Monday
Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild - beautiful gardens and villa on Cap Ferrat (see beyond nice page for transport)
Beaches - 7km of beautiful but pebbly coastline - be sure to take jelly shoes or flip flops. Beaulieu sur Mer (2 stops from Nice Riquier station) has our favourite beach. Villefranche sur Mer (1 stop from Nice Riquier station) has a nice but narrow sandy beach.
Nice Port - good restaurants and fascinating to see all the beautiful yachts
Lime Bikes - we love using these hire bikes that are available all around the city (like Boris Bikes in London). They are cheap and the app is easy to use.
Boat trip around the Bay - Trans côte d'azur run scheduled boat excursions booked from the Port and takes you to the Bay of Villefranche and Bay des Anges, as well as trips to Monaco, Cannes and other towns along the coast.
Shopping
Villefranche - this is our favourite walk (takes 60 mins). Walk to the Port and take Bld Franck Pilatte along the coast to the left. It joins Bld Maurice Maeterlinck and take the steps on your right (Escalier du 24eme Bca) down to the port. You can also take a 3 mins train from Nice Riquier rail station to Villefrance (5 mins walk N from apartment). Villefranche has a lovely, small and sandy beach.
Promenade des Anglais
Vieux Nice - bustling, colourful old town with plenty of restaurants, bars and interesting shops
MAMAC Art Gallery - this currently closed
Musée Masséna - this is a great museum of the city in a beautiful villa
Best of Nice Blog - great local information website
