PTO Leadership and Members

You don't have to know it all to get started.

We're all volunteers, and we're all constantly learning. For a resilient PTO, we coach new leaders so you'll feel ready when you step into a role.

If you have an interest to do any of the following roles, then we'd love to hear from you.

After you raise your hand for a particular leadership role, you can shadow that leader for the beginning part of a year (or during a committee's activities) so you feel confident taking over the second half of the year (or next year's committee), with your coach still nearby to answer questions and guide you. After that, you'll be ready to coach the next person in a future year.

For current leaders with 5th grade students, we are actively looking for parents with younger students to start the coaching process before these leaders "graduate" to middle school.

Director / Co-Directors: Kelly, Gia, Whitney & Susanne

Leads the PTO: Sets agendas, runs meetings, is the main contact between the PTO, principal and school. Also attends PTA/PTO joint meetings to coordinate what is happening in the broader community that impacts elementary schools. Basically, these leaders know who's doing what when and where.Commitment: Leardership Business Meetings and General Meetings + PTA/O/Foundation meetings (evenings in-person and/or virtually) + about xxx hours every xxxx.

Kelly Balzar has been a PTO leader for years and is coaching this year's current co-directors to take over for next year.

Gia has been an active PTO leader and is stepping into the role as Co-Director this year.

Whitney has been an active PTO leader and is stepping into the role as Co-Director this year.

Susanne is beginning her journey with our PTO.

Treasurer: Laurel

Manages the budget, banking, reimbursements, and financial reporting. This leader knows where all the money is and where it's going.Leadership Business and General Meetings + about xxx hours every xxxx

This is Laurel's second year as treasurer and she has done an amazing job re-organizing things to us brilliantly for the upcoming year.

Secretary: Emily

Records meeting minutes and manages official documents and correspondence.Leadership Business and General Meetings + about xxx hours every xxxx

This is Emily's first year as Secretary.

Communication Coordinator: Vacant Position

Emails out our monthly newsletters, event flyers, and updates send PTO calendar updates to the district's Tandem calendar.General Meetings + about 30 minutes onces a month (can be done during PTO meetings or anytime virtually)

Recruits volunteers and donations, organizes events, and keeps committee work moving forward.General Meetings + about xxx hours every xxxx

PACS (Parent Advisory Committee to the Superintendent) Member: Jenn & Vacant Position (Ariana will attend if no one else can go)

Limited to two represenetatives per school, this member attends a bi-monthly meeting at the District Office to listen to the Superintendent and other district leaders share updates about topics that affect all elementary schools. These representatives then share this information with the PTO.General Meetings + about 2-3 hours every other month (mid-day)

Jenn was a PACS member in 25/26 and is again our representative for 26/27.

Ariana is a 5th grade parent and has subbed as a PACS member once before.

Website Manager: Ariana (5th grade parent, transitioning out-Vacant Position)

Maintains this site, updating the "Leadership" page and "Events and Activities" pages as needed.About 30 minutes once a month (can be done during PTO meetings or anytime virtually)

Ariana and AJ began researching and outlining a website in 2024/25 and began building the website summer of 2026.

Social Media Coordinator: Susanne

Manages social media (currently just our Facebook page) so families know what’s happening when and how to participate.About xxx every xxxx

This is a new position for 26/27 and we're excited to have Susanne figure out this role.
