Agricultural Education in New Hampshire:

100 + Years

1907 - The NH State Superintendent of Public Instruction Creates a Secondary School Curriculum in Agriculture.


1916 - 30 NH Schools provide education in agriculture with 298 students enrolled.


1931 - Granite State Association of FFA is chartered.


1940 - NH has 16 FFA Chapters with 281 male members


1962 - NH FFA Foundation is formed to provide financial assistance to the FFA program in the Granite State


1966 - First female is elected to FFA State Office in NH - Susan Pratt of Winchester, NH

(Girls are not officially allowed membership until 1969!)


1978 - First female in NH is elected FFA State President – Doni Angell of Hampstead, N.H.

1988 - “The Future Farmers of America” officially becomes “The National FFA Organization” to reflect the science, technology and business of agriculture.


2003 - The NH Department of Agriculture, Markets & Food welcomes the Granite State Association of FFA


2007 - Record high of 916 male & female FFA members in 16 NH chapters.


2013 - 16 NH public schools offer agricultural education with over 1,700 students.


2013 - NH FFA Membership is 514 in 14 chapters.


2019 - National FFA membership reaches all-time high of 669,989 in 8,630 chapters.
