The Annunciation

The dust in the air,

It dares not settle

On the gossamer vision

So poised and perfect.

Harbinger of a mortal process

Of blood and gristle,

That vapour from Heaven

Is already the key

To unlock the conception

Of a man

In the scope

Of an imperfect world.

The message is clear –

That the girl is the pinhead

On which shall balance

The future of the world,

That she is to crack

That fragile eggshell innocence

Surrounding His yolk

Of the whole salvation

Of humanity.
