IENH is counting down to one of the most anticipated events of the year: the 2024 third year graduation. Scheduled for December 12th, the ceremony promises to be an unforgettable celebration, reflecting all the dedication of the students who are preparing to end an important cycle in their lives.
Since the beginning of the school year, graduates have shown an admirable commitment to throwing a memorable graduation party. With determination, the students began raising money for the event at the beginning of the year. Fundraising initiatives ranged from cake and sweet sales at the school to events created by the students themselves.
Graduation will be an occasion to celebrate not only the end of high school, but also the collective effort of students. “The end”, as known by students, symbolizes the transition to a new phase in the lives of young graduates. Students are looking forward to the ceremony, which will include inspiring speeches, the presentation of diplomas and moments of recognition for students' academic and personal achievements. The event will be an opportunity to reflect on the journey taken, the friendships built and the challenges overcome over the years.
We all hope they have a bright path ahead!

CIARTEC Week at IENH: A Cinematic Celebration of Creativity and Culture
By Ana Laura Rabelo
During CIARTEC Week at IENH (26th to 30th August), they had a special event organized by Spanish teacher Rita Cunha, the third-grade students, and with a special appearance by ninth-grader Lucas Closs. The goal of the presentations was to delve into the history of cinema and recreate selected scenes, all exploring languages such as English and Spanish.
The event began with a portrayal of Charlie Chaplin, featuring Artur Lutz’s acting and Bianca Pires on the piano. Next, we explored Brazilian cinema with Lucas Closs portraying Mazzaropi’s character, Geca. The opening presentation was by Class 3A, which performed choreography from Teen Beach Movie. This was followed by student skits inspired by various films, including Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Maleficent, Harry Potter, and Bohemian Rhapsody. The event concluded with a lively performance by Class 3B, who presented a choreography from High School Musical.
The week showcased the students' enthusiasm for cinema and their creativity in recreating memorable movie moments. Student Rafaela Lehnen shared that the experience was highly educational for her. Collaborating on the presentation and choreography with a talented group was incredible, and performing with such friendly people made it even better. Spending the day with friends was amazing, and she hopes to do it again.
Teacher Rita Cunha reflected that after five years, planning and sharing her Spanish classes at the Ciartec showcase was truly delightful. The project, which involved writing a script that merged cinema studies with student-chosen skits and musical performances, was a significant milestone for the students nearing the end of their basic education. It provided an opportunity to create lasting memories and develop skills such as autonomy, time management, and learning from mistakes.
Overall, she is very pleased and fulfilled by the enriching experience for everyone involved.

The School Curriculum Is Now International Bilingual
By Vittor Oliveira Lopes
IENH became a Cambridge International School offering the Lower Secondary program for students in grades 7 to 9, starting in 2019, gradually. Since 2021, we have been offering the Cambridge Primary curriculum for students in Years 1 to 6 as well.
In 2025, IENH will start to have the International Bilingual Curriculum, also from Level 2 of Early Childhood Education to the 9th year of Elementary School.
This change has many advantages:
Fluency in More than One Language: Students learn and communicate in two languages, which can be a great advantage in a globalized world. This helps develop advanced language skills and facilitates communication in different contexts.
Expanded Cultural Perspective: Students have the opportunity to learn about and understand different cultures from an early age, which can promote greater empathy and a broader view of the world.
Improved Academic Performance: Studies suggest that bilingualism can improve cognitive skills such as problem solving, critical thinking and the ability to multitask.
Career Opportunities: Fluency in more than one language is highly valued in the global job market. Having this skill can open doors to various professional and academic opportunities.
Preparation for Studying Abroad: If students are interested in studying in other countries, having a solid foundation in more than one language can make it easier to adapt to new educational institutions.
With innovation, IENH has a curriculum with integral development; global academic standards; innovative methodologies, through active methodologies such as Play-based Learning, Problem-based Learning and Gamification, an interdisciplinary approach occurs that stimulates students' curiosity and learning and global citizenship, encouraging empathy and cultural understanding, preparing students to be global, conscious and responsible citizens.

The theater group of IENH School will present a play called Voices of the Past at Colégio Sinodal Prado Gravataí on September 26th, in honor of the 200th anniversary of German immigration to Rio Grande do Sul, which is celebrated this year. The play is directed by Fábio Ferraz, the drama teacher at the school, and features a cast of 18 students from the second and third years of high school.
Voices of the Past is a dramatic narrative that tells the story of a Brazilian traveler who meets a beautiful German immigrant girl. They fall in love, but face prejudice from the girl’s father, who disapproves of the boy due to his non-German appearance. This conflict leads to various family and personal struggles, with characters grappling with their ideals and emotions.
The story was written by Fábio Ferraz, inspired by the arrival of Germans in Rio Grande do Sul and the challenges and prejudices that Brazilians and Germans faced with each other. The group has been rehearsing for this presentation since July, and their expectations are very optimistic:
“The audience will see a different play compared to previous theater groups at the Foundation, with a more dramatic, historical, and romantic theme, portraying the story of German migration in a fictional form,” said Fábio Ferraz.
“People will be impressed with this year’s play, as it breaks the trend of comedy and adventure from the past few years, presenting an engaging drama filled with strong emotions and themes of love and prejudice,” added Ana Laura Rabelo, an actor and third-year student at IENH.
